Swimmer Code of Conduct

The Pebble Creek Half Mile swim team strives to maintain a fun, respectful, and welcoming environment. Consistent with that mission, we expect swimmers to abide by the basic expectations below for behavior at all team events. Failure to abide by any of the below expectations may result in disciplinary action, which may be administered by coaches or board members. Appropriate disciplinary action will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may range from requiring a short sit-out at practice to suspension from a swim meet or removal from the team. Registration fees for swimmers who are subject to disciplinary action for violating the Swimmer Code of Conduct will not be refunded. We thank all our swimmers for abiding by these expectations.

SWIMMER CODE OF CONDUCT

  1. I will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times. I will speak and behave respectfully toward teammates, teammates’ family members, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and anyone else I see at a team event. I will accept victory and defeat graciously. At all times, I will refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct.
  2. I will respect the rules and regulations set by the teams’ board, coaches, Pebble Creek Swim Club, and any other pool at which I practice or compete.
  3. I will be a good teammate. I will cheer for my teammates and encourage them as we work together to become better swimmers. I will not bully or make disparaging comments about any teammate, including comments about a teammate’s skill, appearance, or fitness.
  4. I will communicate openly, respectfully, and constructively with coaches and parents. I will not use foul language or talk back to coaches or parents. If I think an issue requires a coach’s or parent’s attention, I will report the issue to them promptly and constructively.
  5. I will not engage in violent conduct, such as hitting, punching, kicking, spitting, or touching any other person against that person’s will. Likewise, I will not threaten anyone with violence.
  6. At all meets, I will remain in the team tent area and promptly line up when each of my events is called. I understand that if I miss a relay in which I am scheduled to swim, I will be ineligible to participate in any relay at the next meet.
  7. At the end of each meet (home and away), I will clean up after myself. This includes throwing away all trash and making sure I take with me all gifts, food, drinks, equipment, clothing, chairs, or other items I brought to or obtained at the meet.
  8. I will wear the 2026 team suit to all meets.

Parent Code of Conduct

The Pebble Creek Half Mile swim team strives to maintain a fun, respectful, and welcoming environment. Consistent with that mission, we expect parents to abide by the basic expectations below for behavior at all team events. Failure to abide by any of the below expectations may result in disciplinary action, which may be administered by board members. Appropriate disciplinary action will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Registration fees for swimmers who are subject to disciplinary action for violating the Swimmer Code of Conduct will not be refunded. We thank all parents for abiding by these expectations.

PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

  1. I will treat everyone I encounter at team events with respect.
  2. I will cheer for and encourage all PCHM swimmers.
  3. Our family will volunteer for a cumulative total of three halves of dual meets during the season. For example, this expectation may be satisfied by one parent’s volunteering for one half of a dual meet and another parent’s volunteering for one half of two dual meets or one full dual meet. The board understands that some families’ circumstances may prevent them from meeting this expectation. Those families should contact the board to advise the board of the circumstances that preclude them from volunteering. The board may propose tasks that respect such families’ limitations and can be completed before, during, or after a meet.
  4. I understand that when my child is at practice or a meet, he/she is there to be coached by the team’s coaches. Therefore, I will not distract my child during practices or meets, and I will encourage my child to listen to their coaches.
  5. If I see something during a practice or meet that I believe requires adult intervention, I will report it in a constructive, respectful manner to a coach, board member, official, or pool personnel.
  6. I understand that if my child violates any expectation set forth in the Swimmer Code of Conduct, disciplinary action may be taken against him/her.
