Hey, PCHM Sharks! We start practice NEXT WEEK! Are you ready?! We are!

Our board got to meet Coach Lauren at our meeting on Tuesday. We would like you to have a chance to meet her, too! Join us this Sunday, May 16, for a meet and greet from 5-6 pm at the Pebble Creek Pool. Board members will also be present to answer any questions you have about the season – which is especially good for new families who may feel a little lost at first! We want to help! We are selling tickets to the May 22 Swamp Rabbit Hockey Match at the Bon Secours Wellness Center from 7-9 pm. This event will be our team kickoff. Join us for the fun! Ticket sales officially close on Wednesday, May 19, so don’t miss out! Click this link to buy tickets!

*** Volunteers!!!! ***

Each meet takes close to 60 volunteers from just our pool alone. We would really like for you to become certified for a position as soon as possible. The positions that require certification include the following:

• Timers
• Chief Timer
• Computer Operator
• Stroke and Turn Judges
• Starter
• Referee
• Records and Ribbons
• Runners

If you are new and are not sure about what position you should do, check out the information at the end of this email about the different positions. If you are still unsure, talk to a board member at the meet and greet on Sunday. We would be happy to help!

For those of you who have volunteered before or know what you would like to do, please take a few minutes (literally!) to certify so we have coverage for our first meet June 3, 2021.

Complete the following steps to certify:

1. Go to https://sail.swimtopia.com/

2. Click CERTIFICATION (on the top tab).

3. Then click ONLINE CERTIFICATION, which will give you a list of all the positions that need certification. Click on CERTIFY for the position in which you are interested.

5. You have to do minimal reading to prepare for the position and then take a short test to complete your certification. The pre-reading material is under EDUCATION MATERIALS. You can retake the test as many times as needed.

***If you attended the online class for Stroke and Turn, Referee, or Software, please remember there is an online test to complete your certification.

***We need at least 2-3 Chief Timers.

***As many as 18 Timers are needed from our team for each meet. If this is a position you prefer or can cover when you are not working elsewhere, please certify ASAP. This position is great to begin with, and it ensures you a front-row seat for the meet!

***Records: We can use 2 people each meet. This is a sit-down job, and you can cover each other to watch your child swim.

***Ribbons: We need 1 person each meet. Therefore, having 2 certified people helps us plan for meets when one person is not available.

***Tent Parents: We need two people each half to work the tent and help get swimmers in order for their events and up to Clerk of Course in time. If you have young swimmers and need to be close by, this is a good position. It’s a great way to meet the kids on the team, and it’s easy to cover each other and watch your child swim.
