Job Description

In partnership with the PCHM Head Coach and Board of Directors, the Assistant Swim Coach, in accordance with S.A.I.L. regulations, will provide direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for team members.

In addition, a qualified Assistant Coach candidate would be expected to serve as a role model for our team, set morally appropriate examples for our swimmers and families, and continue the positive atmosphere of our swim program and community.

Responsibilities

With the support and direction of the Head Coach, you will:

• Assist or lead morning and/or evening team practice sessions starting mid-May through mid-July
• Educate swimmers on various techniques and support and oversee team training/development.
• Inspire and promote a positive and safe atmosphere among all swimmers.
• Coordinate with Head Coach and volunteers to set up practice daily and restore the deck to its original state before departing.
• Be an open channel of communication with parents before and after practice.
• Assist Head Coach in preparing for Thursday meets by using applicable systems to review individual and relay entries, make any updates where appropriate, and determine the best overall placement of team members in events.
• Assist in setting up and cleaning up after swim meets where needed and creating a positive environment that demonstrates good sportsmanship.
• Assist Head Coach with swimmer evaluations.
• Will lead and/or support coaching of specific age groups, which may include Guppies, potentially with assistance from volunteers where determined appropriate.
• Help support team building and volunteer activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Applicant should be 16 years of age or older at the start of the swim season.
• High school or Competitive Level Swim Experience
• Ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Applicant should be 17 years of age or older at the start of the swim season.
• S.A.I.L. Experience (Preferred)
• Current valid Red Cross or Lifeguard certification (Preferred)
• Prior coaching experience
