Good afternoon, Sharks,

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend! As discussed last week, the time has come to declare which events your Shark(s) would like to swim at our first meet at McCarter on Wednesday, May 31. The deadline to declare swimmers is Sunday, May 28, at 5 p.m. Your swimmer must be declared in order to swim in the meet. For those who have never been through this process before or could use a refresher, instructions for declaring swimmers can be found HERE. Please let any of our coaches or board members know if you have questions about the declaration process or encounter any problems.

In particular, if you have questions about which events to declare your swimmer for, please get in touch with the coach assigned to your swimmer's lane at practice.  Currently, Alyssa Alexander coaches Lane One, Delaney Childers coaches Lanes Two and Three, and our Head Coach, Josh Evans, coaches Lanes Four and Five. Each of their contact information is below. As a general rule, a swimmer should be able to complete a full unassisted lap of a particular stroke without stopping to compete at a meet event in that stroke.

Finally, please keep in mind that our coaches may in their discretion adjust the events for which swimmers are declared before heat sheets are created for a meet. For example, if a swimmer is declared for an event that a coach has never seen the swimmer swim at practice, the coach might decide to remove that swimmer from that event. Likewise, coaches may reconfigure relay members or take similar actions to maximize the team's chances for earning points at a meet. But rest assured that allowing each swimmer to compete in as many events as they would like is a primary focus for our coaches.
