Last-Minute Meet Details + More

Hey, Sharks! Are you ready for another awesome meet???

Meet Info

See attached for important meet information and a map of the Brushy Meadows pool.

Volunteers

1st-half volunteers, please check in with Laura Fee as soon as you can! And remember that the officials meeting on the deck is at 5:15 p.m.

We know things happen and people have emergencies. If anything comes up that makes you unable to volunteer, please contact Laura Fee right away on her cell phone, 310.387.9065, so she can work on your replacement. We need an exact number of volunteers, and we can't just do without your position if you can't make it.

Relays

We have a lot of new kids this year with some swimming relays for the first time – meaning some of you are first-time relay parents. It’s always a great help if parents can help reinforce the basics on the way to the meets and when you’re at home, outside of the practice.

Lisa Fronczak, our wonderful SAIL rep, starter, and referee (in training), shares her top three tips below:

  1. The order of events in the Medley Relay: Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle (Back, Breast, Fly, Free) – please help ensure your child knows what they are swimming!
  2. Wait for the person before you to touch before you start! Kids get excited, but false starts are avoidable!!
  3. Once you are done, get out of the pool – in Individual events, we encourage all kids to demonstrate great sportsmanship and wait for everybody to finish before they get out of the pool. In relays, however, it’s important for kids to get out once they finish unless they are the last person. If swimmers 1-3 don’t get out when they are done swimming, it can lead to an interference call. It’s a tough technical rule, but it’s the rule nonetheless!

Big Shark / Little Shark

The Big Shark / Little Shark theme for this week is Favorite Snack!

8:30 a.m. Practice

Today, we held the LAST 8:30 a.m. practice of the season. Congratulations to all our Little Sharks for moving up to the 9:00 a.m. practice!!! We feel like everyone is ready for this step, and this change will give coaches time to work on more detailed instruction for our swimmers.

June 11th Evening Practice - NOT CANCELLED

Due to a lot of expressed interest in having an evening practice on June 11th, we will not cancel this practice after all. (Yay! We love your dedication!) Swimmers who wish to go to the practice AND the Greenville Drive game can do both! Or if you want to go to just the Drive game, that's fine, too.

Tickets to the Drive game are just $9 and include lots of fun entertainment and activities. Purchase them at https://gd1.glitnirticketing.com/gdticket/web/gp_list.php?refresh=1717546475
