Important Updates for Sharks 🦈

Hey, Sharks!

We’ve got several important updates as we head into the final stretch of the season. Please take a moment to read through the details below.

Last Regular Meet – This Thursday vs. McCarter

Our final regular meet of the season is this Thursday. Please declare your swimmer(s) by noon this Sunday.

Also, don’t forget to sign up to volunteer, especially if your family has not yet completed the three required volunteer spots for the season.

Swim Clinic with Coach Wendy Viney – Tuesday, 6:15-7:15 p.m.

Coach Wendy Viney from YSSC will be joining us on Tuesday evening for a special swim clinic. She’ll work with 10 & unders during the last 30 minutes of their practice and 11 & ups during the first 30 minutes of their practice.

This is a great opportunity for extra coaching, and we hope your swimmers can participate.

Divisionals, Championships, and Classics – Declare by Friday, June 20

We’ve received feedback that newer families would appreciate more details about these meets. Here’s a quick overview:

Divisionals
This meet includes all teams in our Blue Division.

  • Location: Stonehaven (where we swam last Thursday)
  • 11 & Ups: Friday, June 27 (afternoon-evening)
  • 10 & Unders: Saturday, June 28 (morning)
  • Warm-up and arrival times to come

To participate in Divisionals, swimmers must have competed in at least two regular-season meets.

Need help selecting events?
Follow these steps to check your swimmer’s rankings:

  1. Visit: SAIL Rankings
  2. Click the table’s header row.
  3. Wait a moment (the page may go blank briefly).
  4. Use the search bar to enter your swimmer’s name.
  5. Choose up to three highest-ranked events.

Selecting events based on rankings helps your swimmer qualify for post-season meets and contributes to team scoring.

Volunteer Signup

The volunteer signup sheet for Divisionals is now available. Some roles require training and/or experience, but the following are open to all:

  • Timer
  • Hospitality
  • Deck Marshall (helps keep the deck area safe)
  • Volunteer Check-in
  • Parking Marshall
  • First Aid (preferably filled by someone with medical or first aid experience)

Questions? Contact Laura Fee at 310-387-9065 or [email protected].

Championships and Classics – What Are They?

After Divisionals, results from all divisions are combined to determine the top 40 swimmers per event:

  • Classics: Places 1–16
  • Championships: Places 17–40

Both events will be held at Westside Aquatic Center:

  • Championships: Saturday, July 12
  • Classics: Sunday, July 13

If your swimmer is participating in Divisionals, please indicate whether they’re available to swim in Championships and/or Classics in case they qualify. You don’t need to select events, just note their availability.

That’s it for now! Enjoy the rest of your weekend… AFTER declaring your swimmers!
