đŚ Sharks Summer Wrap-Up + Medal and T-Shirt Pickup
Hey, Sharks!
Have you enjoyed a break from our long and detailed emails?! We have certainly enjoyed a break from writing them! But if youâve missed them, youâre in luck. We have a few announcements as we wrap up an incredible summer.
Championships & Classics
The Sharks had a great showing at Championships and Classics this year, with 49 of our swimmers qualifying! We are so proud of all of them and wanted to share a few special highlights from the weekend.
At Championships:
- Angeline Fronczak took 1st place in the Girlsâ 11-12 Breaststroke and set a new Championships meet record! Angeline is now officially the fastest Girlsâ 11-12 breaststroker in the 62-year history of the Championships meet!
- Coach Caroline Leonard took 1st place in the Womenâs 15-18 100 Freestyle.
- Miller Mayfield won the Girlsâ 9-10 100 IM.
- Adam Clarkson won the Boysâ 9-10 Backstroke.
At Classics:
- Our 9-10 Girls Medley Relay Team broke the PCHM pool record for their event!
- Our 15-18 Womenâs Medley Relay Team broke their own PCHM pool record... again! They last broke it just a few weeks earlier at Divisionals.
- Foster Williams broke the 9-10 Boys Short Free pool record, broke his own 9-10 Boys Long Free pool record, and took home the win in the 100 IM!
- Our 9-10 Girls Freestyle Relay Team broke a PCHM pool record that had stood since 1992! And thereâs a pretty great Sharks connection: The 1992 team included our very own Board Vice President, Courtney Mayfield, while the new record-breaking team included Courtneyâs daughter, Miller!
Congratulations to all the Sharks who represented PCHM at Championships and Classics! We couldnât be prouder of the way you finished the season.
âSwim for Mattâ Fundraiser Update
In all the craziness of the season, we failed to give you a final update on our âSwim for Mattâ fundraiser. Although our meet dedicated to Matt ended early due to a thunderstorm, our Sharks community still raised an incredible $2,540!
That is an amazing reflection of the kindness and generosity of our families.
We believe no family should have to experience the heartbreak the Huey family has endured. We give in support of every family facing this disease. Most of all, we give in hope: for better treatments, better outcomes, and one day, a cure.
Thank you for helping us make a difference and for keeping Matt's memory alive.
T-Shirt, Medal & Trophy Pickup
The moment youâve been waiting for has finally arrived: our Iron Shark and Undefeated shirts are in!
We also have medals and trophies that some swimmers still need to pick up. To make things easier, weâre offering a couple of opportunities to grab everything at once.
Wednesday, August 5 | 6â8 p.m.
Three Friends Bar & Grill
2801 Wade Hampton Blvd.
(in the Publix at Taylors shopping center)
Stop by anytime between 6 and 8 p.m. to pick up your shirts, medals, and trophies. You can also return your Divisionals signs...because we know some of you still have them. Weâve seen them in your yards!
Hang out for a while and grab dinner or a drink, or just pop in to say hi and pick up your things. Weâd love to see you!
Canât make it Wednesday? Weâll have a second pickup opportunity on Saturday, August 8. Details are TBD, so stay tuned.
Thatâs it for now! We hope youâre enjoying a fabulous end to your summer. Thanks for making this such a memorable season for the Sharks!
Fear the Fin,
The PCHM Swim Team Board
