Hey, PCHM Sharks! Happy Fri-yay!

It’s Memorial Day weekend! There will be NO PRACTICE on Monday, but you won’t want your swimmers to miss practice on Tuesday because they will be getting a SPECIAL SURPRISE! Also, Mary Beth Williams will be holding a swim team Q&A for new families at both practices on Tuesday. If you have questions, come ask Mary Beth. She is an experienced swim team mom!

Our first swim meet is next Thursday, June 3 at 5:30 pm at Pelham Falls, 100 Pelham Falls Dr, Greer, SC 29651. The event is open on our website, and you can use the “MEET ENTRY” button on the calendar to complete your entries for each swimmer. If you are not sure how to sign up, check out the sign-up instructions or ask a board member for help. These selections are due by 5 pm on Sunday so our coaches can have time to evaluate before they are turned in.

Here is some helpful information for signing your child up.

• 8 and under NEW swimmers should only sign up for the short freestyle event for this meet. A few can also sign up for backstroke. We want to make this first meet fun and successful for them, so we start with what we know they can legally swim.
• ALL swimmers of all ages should sign up for what they know they are comfortable with and can legally swim right now. We have had very little practice thus far and need to save the harder strokes for later meets. If Coach Lauren is concerned about any entries, she will make adjustments and let you know of any changes.

Finally, be sure to use the “JOB SIGNUP” button for this meet and indicate what role you can fill and when. Laura will be assessing sign-ups over the week and will reach out as needed. For more information about volunteering, read State of the Shark, Volume 3.

Coach Lauren and Coach Josh have had fun getting to know all the kids during the first two weeks of practice. They are excited about the first meet and can’t wait to see all our Sharks swim! We’re looking forward to a great summer season. Go Sharks!
