Last-Minute Meet Details - PLEASE READ! :)
Sharks, it's MEET DAY!!!
The meet will start at 5:30 p.m., and our warm-ups begin at 4:30 p.m. This week's pool is quite a hike from our location, so please check drive time and plan for traffic. If you missed the email with parking and other details from the home team, view it here.
After I sent out that email, we received more information from Sparrow's Point. Below is a map of the pool.
In addition, they said:
We want to emphasize to please ask swimmers and families to not climb on the rocks, move the rocks and to please stay out of the creek. We also kindly request to stay in the grassy area opposite the creek. Bug spray is also suggested.
Thanks for your help in encouraging your children to be good guests by following the requests of our host team and the instructions of our Tent Parents and Clerk of Course volunteers! :) The first meet is always a bit chaotic, so we need to stress the importance of listening to and following instructions. These are great skills for life!
Please write on your kids—I'm not joking!
- Melissa Kreke, our amazing computer operator, created a report of events by swimmer and posted it to our swim meet event page. This information is also available if you download the Swimtopia app and sign in.
- Get out a black sharpie and visit our swim meet 101 page to see how to mark the events on your child's arm or leg.
- If you don't understand what to do, don't worry! Plenty of seasoned parents will be around the tents before the meet, and we are happy to help you. You're one meet away from being a pro! :)
It's probably going to be hot tonight. Does anyone have a generator and fan that you can bring for the tents???
Also, pack rain gear. Isolated thunderstorms are predicted for later in the evening—weather delays are a particular joy when we are out in Simpsonville. :-/
The potential for thunderstorms is a great reason to DOWNLOAD THE SWIMTOPIA APP AND SIGN IN. Make sure notifications are turned on. If we all have to go to our cars, we will need a way to tell you when/if it's time to come back.
Volunteers—THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING!
- First-half volunteers, please check in by 5:00 p.m. at the table near our tents to get your name tag, supplies, etc. Officials meet on deck at 5:15 p.m.
- Second-half volunteers begin after event 40. Listen for an announcement to know when that is.
- Direct all last-minute questions about volunteering to Laura Fee, 310.387.9065 or [email protected]. Or look for the beautiful, tall blonde at the meet!
Sophie Michaels is missing her swim cap. We know we ordered it, so we think it may have ended up with someone else's stuff. Check the names on your caps!
Tomorrow at 9 a.m., we will have Ribbons and Donuts at the Pebble Creek pool. Bring your swimmers to get jacked up on sugar, receive their ribbons, find out who our Swimmers of the Week are, and enjoy some private pool time with their swim team friends. This event is weekly and will be the highlight of their week.
We're still waiting on the final combined heat sheets from Sparrows Point. Whenever we have them, we will put them on our swim meet event page.
We're looking forward to a wonderful first meeting! If you have any questions, reply to this email.
Fear the Fin,
The PCHM Swim Team Board
